Just two months ago, Mariah Carey was in an undisclosed hospital in Los Angeles, welcoming twins, a boy and a girl, into the world, with husband Nick Cannon by her side. The other day, Mariah made her first public appearance since giving birth.

Wearing a black tracksuit and white t-shirt, with her hair all natural curls and apparently not wearing any makeup at all but hiding behind oversized glasses, Mariah stepped out in LA on business, JustJared reports.

Photos (see them following the link in the above paragraph) show that Mariah has already lost a lot of the weight she gained when carrying the twins – but it’s her happy, content expression that’s getting most of the comments on dedicated forums.

“Mariah Carey heads into an apartment building on Wednesday (July 6) in New York City,” the e-zine says. It also reveals that Mariah’s next gig may be on the brand new, US version of X Factor with Simon Cowell.

In other words, fans should get ready to see the diva in action come fall, when the show premieres. However, she will not be on the panel of judges, but probably one of the mentors brought on board to help contestants.

“Mariah and Simon [Cowell] are great friends, and now [that] she has had her babies, it’s very possible that she will be involved [in] some way in the later stages of the show,” an unnamed source says for EW, as cited by JustJared.

“She has always said she wanted to work with the show, so it’s something they will certainly be discussing ideas for soon,” the insider adds.

The idea is not new: before announcing the judges on the panel, Cowell himself said he had spoken to Mariah about becoming involved on the show, as we also reported at the time.

At the time, though, he couldn’t (or wouldn’t) reveal more details because the twins Morrocan and Monroe hadn’t been born yet; but he did say that Mariah would probably make an appearance as mentor.
