14 DAY TRIAL // The “Elusive Chanteuse” Mariah Carey isn't that glamorous these days. Her marriage to Nick Cannon is down the drain, and the paparazzi and the tabloids are lining up to publish all sorts of wild rumors about why she and Cannon are splitting up. As you can imagine, none of the reports is very flattering.
Now, Radar is claiming that Mariah has taken to impressive amounts of alcohol to calm her nerves and drown her sorrows, saying that the singer is drinking bottle after bottle of champagne until the early dawn.
One insider claims that “She stays up all night, looking at every frame of herself in every photo and dissecting it to death,” adding that Carey is regularly staying up until 7 A.M. drinking champagne and prosecco.
The insider also addresses the rumors according to which Nick and Mariah split because she got fat lately, “She is beautiful but has major body issues. She wants to look like a teenager in every photo and won’t approve anything until it’s airbrushed to an insane level.”
It's a known fact that Mariah's publicity photos get an extensive airbrush treatment, as some unretouched photos have recently been leaked and the differences from the retouched version are painfully obvious.
Now, the insider claims that Cannon is packing up and leaving her, and that's turned Mariah into an emotional wreck, “He hung in there way longer than anybody could have expected. I would like to say she is horribly upset, but she lives in a fantasy world… He’s in a different stage of his life and his priorities have changed. He’s on his way up and she’s on her way down.”
It's true that Cannon's career is enjoying a period of mad success, while Mariah's seems to be stagnating at best, if not being on a downward path. This probably added further tension in the couple, particularly because Nick is away from home so much these days, having as many as 12 gigs on the go, while Mariah has nothing to do all day but mope.
“She always suspected when he was working that he was somehow out there cheating, and she’d be home alone, calling Nick 100 times a day.” Nick, his friends and his family have denied that Cannon ever cheated on Carey, letting it seem that she meant the world to him and he still loves her to this day, but her jealousy drove him away.
“She is used to being treated like a princess and waited on hand and foot. Nick treated her that way at first, but then his career took off and his priorities shifted. He thought she had this incredible work ethic, but she’s become more like a housewife… She is in her own world. And now Nick is seeing there’s a new world for him out there,” concludes the knowledgeable source.
