Mariah Carey confuses me and I’m sure many of her loyal fans, her Lambs, must feel the same way. Though she’s been saying left and right that her new album will come out all out once and that she’ll ditch the traditional way in which an album is released, here she is doing just that.

The “Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse” album drops in stores at the end of the month but is already available for pre-order. From what the diva has been saying, it would not be preceded by independent singles, because the entire album would be released at once, in order to be best experienced as a whole.

So this makes the fact that she’s released a song from it quite confusing. It’s called “Thirsty” and it’s available for your listening pleasure below. It also got official artwork, which means that it’s most probably a single – you can see it above.

Besides the fact that Mariah’s no-single approach to releasing an album is confusing, the song is actually pretty good. It has a certain old-school Mariah sound to it and, while I wish she didn’t use that many sounds to drown her voice in an attempt to appear more “modern,” I still find it a pleasant surprise.

Check it out and let me know in the comments section if you agree.
