Mariah Carey Continues to Pile On Weight Because of Fertility Treatment

Mariah Carey is no stranger in the tabloids when it comes to her oscillating weight. Though earlier before, word had it she was only packing some newlywed pounds, it’s now become obvious that she is getting heavier almost with each public outing. This is explained by the fact that she’s resumed fertility treatment, the National Enquirer claims (story via here).

Neither she nor husband Nick Cannon has ever lied about wanting to start a family. However, Mariah has always proved herself to be the more tempered one (as compared to Nick, who once said he’d get her pregnant tomorrow if he had his way), even saying on one occasion that she was still a teen at heart, therefore she too still had some growing up to do before thinking of starting a family. She may have had a change of heart about that.

“Mariah Carey has secretly resumed fertility treatments in a desperate bid to become a mom, The Enquirer has learned. And that’s the real reason the Grammy-winning diva’s weight has soared! ‘She’s packed on a lot of weight, but it’s related to the fertility drugs she’s taking,’ a close pal told The Enquirer. ‘In fact, she may already be pregnant’,” the British tab writes, citing sources close to the actress who, nevertheless, chose to remain unnamed.

“The 41-year-old singer was beaming after visiting the Southern California Reproductive Center, a top fertility clinic in Beverly Hills, on Mother’s Day with hubby Nick Cannon, 29. Mariah had unsuccessfully sought in vitro treatment at the clinic last year, the source says. ‘She’s going to be able to have a baby’,” the Enquirer further writes.

Whether by common accord or there is another source to corroborate the story, back in the US, Star magazine claims the same: Mariah is seeking fertility treatment because she and Nick have decided the time was just right to start that family they’ve been talking about ever since they were married.
