Mariah Carey’s upcoming album “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” might be in more trouble than initially believed, as the singer has canceled, one after another, all promotional appearances that had been scheduled for it. Initially poised to bring the singer at the top of the charts where she should always remain, the album is now shaping up to be a genuine headache, for lack of a stronger term, for Mariah and her camp, as Mariah Daily can confirm.

Although no official statement has yet been made on the many cancelations, it is believed they have to do with the album being pushed back again. As fans must know, “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” has already been postponed once, when the release date was switched from August 25 to September 15 without as much as an announcement, much to the shock of fans. It could very well be that the same is happening now as well.

“Mariah has cancelled her appearance on the Today show which was previously scheduled for August 28, 2009 and will be replaced by Miley Cyrus, NBC has announced today. This is one of many recent postponements and cancellations of recently scheduled events: VH1 Storytellers, Clear Channel Tribeca show, Receiving Walk of Fame Hollywood Star, The Today Show and the MTV Video Music Awards.” Mariah Daily writes.

This is unusual behavior for a star, the same publication points out, unless in the case when a material is not released as planned so promotion for it is seen useless at that point. This could also be seen as an indication that Mariah’s album is far from completed, which, in turn, would mean a release date is still in the distant future. Another theory currently being circulated is that the diva and her management might try to duck stiff competition from Whitney Houston, who is also coming out with her own album, “I Look to You,” this fall.

“Mariah’s management and record label are unwilling to divulge any information regarding the cancelled events but we suspect the reason is another postponement of Mariah’s new album release date. It appears to be that ‘Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel’ will not be released on September 15, 2009, but at a later, currently unknown date.” Mariah Daily further explains.
