Mariah Carey announces Las Vegas residency on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, is yet to reveal the dates

Celine Dion remains the reigning diva of Las Vegas residencies on all accounts: sheer number of shows, audience, complexity of said shows, and the money she cashes in for each night of performing. Unfortunately for Caesars Palace, Celine is taking some time out to be with her husband, who is battling cancer.

She will be gone until later this year or early 2016, so they needed someone to fill in for her and they found just the performer to do that: Mariah Carey will be taking her first-ever Vegas residence, and as you can see from the video below, she’s very excited about it.

Rumor of this had been around for a while before she confirmed it on Ellen, but then again, if we’re to keep track of Mariah-related rumors and consider them legit, she’d be leading a very interesting and VERY busy life.

Mariah didn’t say when her residency starts or announce any dates, but she did say this: the show is inspired by her 18 number 1 songs, which will be “updated” and included in the performance. Caesars is expected to announce the dates and more details very soon.

Word has it that Mimi will be raking in a fortune with this new collaboration: for instance, Britney Spears is now making $475,000 (€404,035) for one show of her residency (and she has 3 of them a week). Mariah is believed to have asked for much more money than that, and she got it since she just made the announcement.
