14 DAY TRIAL // Yesterday, word got out that Arnold Schwarzenegger had fathered an out-of-wedlock child with a housekeeper on the family staff for 20 years, which also led to the demise of his marriage to Maria Shriver. Shriver is now speaking out on the controversy.
At the same time, more details about the mystery child are emerging online: apparently, he was born 10 years ago and most likely lived in the same house as his mother and father – and his other family.
Maria didn’t find out about this until just recently; TMZ says that she believed the baby’s father was the woman’s husband and not for a second did she think it was her own spouse.
Therefore, she was completely blown away when Arnold told her earlier this year that he was, indeed, the father of the child.
Heartbroken and beyond upset, Maria moved out of the house, and insisted that she and Arnold spend some time apart to see whether their marriage could still be saved.
In a statement to People magazine, Shriver confirms what Arnold also said yesterday about the love child, and asks for respect for her privacy from the media.
“This is a painful and heartbreaking time. As a mother, my concern is for the children. I ask for compassion, respect and privacy as my children and I try to rebuild our lives and heal. I will have no further comment,” she says.
Reports online suggest that, while she won’t be saying anything more to the written press, more details about Arnold’s betrayal will go televised: on Oprah’s show no less, TMZ says.
The day before the scandal broke in the media, Shriver reportedly met with Oprah – and even made an appearance on one of her shows, which is yet to air, taking a not too subtle jab at her ex.
“Maria walked on stage tonight at the United Center with Oprah’s bff Gayle King – and declared O had always given her ‘love, support, wisdom, and most of all the truth’,” TMZ writes.
That last part was a very obvious shot at Arnold, claims the report.
“Oprah backed that up by emphasizing, ‘THE TRUTH!’ Our spies say everyone in the arena understood it was a message to Arnold – and the place exploded with applause,” TMZ writes.
