As reported, Maria Shriver wasn’t looking for a full-time job as a co-anchor on The Today Show as NBC bosses would have wanted. However, she’s just landed a job with the network as special correspondent.

The Hollywood Reporter confirms the news, adding that the non-exclusive deal will also leave Shriver plenty of time to handle her other projects and her charity work as well.

Her new job will have her focus on women’s issues and, THR says, “her reports will appear across NBC News platforms including CNBC, MSNBC and NBC Sports. She’ll also serve as editor-at-large for women’s issue across NBC News digital properties.”

“I’ve always believed that television can inspire and elevate humanity, and that’s my mission with this new partnership. I look forward to shining a light on all areas of a woman's experience – from faith and finances, wellness and work, to relationships and the new realities of modern life,” Shriver says in a statement.

The first Shriver report will air in 2014.
