Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez announced on Friday they were ending their 7-year marriage for reasons they chose not to reveal to the press. Admittedly, one of them was Marc’s obsession with controlling everything about JLo, including her fabulous diva fashion style.

Reports in the media already say that his controlling nature was partly responsible for the demise of their marriage, as things got so bad that Lopez simply couldn’t take anymore being constantly told what she could – and could not – do.

A new report suggest that Marc even had a say in Lopez’s style, in that he always insisted on her looking like a traditional wife and not the diva her fans have come to know and love.

Us Magazine says that, at a recent photoshoot, Anthony objected to some photos of his wife he found too hot, saying they “unbecoming for a 40-year-old mother of two.”

Apparently, this behavior goes a long way back, the publication further writes. Marc always had a say in Jennifer’s style, in that he tried to curb it so that it suited his taste, that of having on his arm a woman dressed as a traditional wife.

Whenever she would “stray,” he made sure he brought her down afterwards.

“He would make her feel terrible about herself if she wanted to wear something [hot]. He likes her to dress in a demure, ‘wife’ style,” an insider says.

Marc always hated that his wife was a style icon and a diva who had a reputation to live up to, because it didn’t suit his idea of a wife, it has been claimed.

“Marc has always been a very dominating husband. He wants to control everything Jennifer does,” another source says for the same publication.

Despite the impending divorce, Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez will continue working together: their fashion line at Kohl’s is still a go, as also is their talent competition “Q’Viva: The Chosen,” which will start shooting later this year.
