The internet world is more and more populated with high resolution maps that allow you to find streets and building directly from a service that displays images captured from the satellites. Google Maps is only one of the powerful solutions that are trying to provide detailed imagery with the Earth, but Google's product is currently challenged by similar applications developed by its rivals: Yahoo Maps, MSN Earth or Ask Maps. It's obvious that every product offers some unique features so, because you're not able to use a single solution that contains all the functions, you mustn't choose only one. But who says you cannot use all the services at the same time?

Mapshark is an exciting product that allows you to search maps on more than 600 websites, so you're sure you can find your house on the map. The service is designed with Google's employees' help, being developed using Custom Search Engine, so it is probably based on Google Maps technology.

"This project came to a halt when I read a post in Techcrunch about Google's custom search engines. I had one of those epiphanies -- you know when the light bulb thing goes off in your head. I thought to myself, "what am I doing?" Here I am trying to create a vertical search engine from scratch, when Google will let me use their power to create it.

And here it is -- Mapshark. It works great thanks to those smart people at Google. Instead of searching billions of sites for online map websites, you can search just the best web sites and get the exact 10 to 100 results you want. I think you'll find this to be a handy tool. So give it a try and have fun," the developer says about the product.
