25% of the people who take up exercise start eating more than they should

A recent survey has found that about 25% of the people who decide to get a gym membership and start exercising on a regular basis soon find that, rather than getting slimmer, they start getting plumper.

Researchers explain that, as far as they can tell, this happens because these people work on the assumption that, courtesy of their newly established fitness routine, they can snack on foods and treat they would otherwise stay away from.

Given the fact that ordinary folks burn an average of 300 calories during each exercise session, it often happens that the treats they reward themselves with after going to the gym cancel out whatever benefits they got from hitting the treadmill.

According to Daily Mail, people who have only recently taken up exercise also risk getting fat due to the fact that they experience a sudden increase in their appetite.
