Throughout time, the fashion industry has proved to be one of the most stylish and powerful enemies of unfortunate, defenseless creatures.

People who worship Manolo Blahnik's works of art for feet now have an even more legitimate reason to spend more than $800 on a pair of shoes, taking into consideration his new eco-conscious attitude, reflected in the Blahnik earth-friendly collection.

Designer Marcia Patmos who brought the Manolo Blahnik eco-line to life designed two styles of sandals: an open-toed flat and a strappy high heel, which will most likely capture the attention of wealthy eco-activists.

The luxurious items are manufactured using waste tilapia skins, cork and fibers coming out of Raffia palm trees. His innovative, green idea will be implemented just in time to rock the spring collection. Blahnik says that it is time for fashion industry to adapt itself to the realities of our present society by becoming more sustainable.

The designer stated that ecological fabrics don't have to limit their potential to manufacturing just T-shirts and grocery bags.
