One day after announcing the fourth update for Manjaro Linux 0.8.12, the Manjaro developers released the fourth Preview version of the upcoming Manjaro Linux Xfce 0.9.0 and Manjaro Linux KDE 0.9.0 distributions. The Xfce edition comes now with a tweaked and patched Xfce 4.12 desktop environment, promising the best Xfce experience possible.

Besides Xfce 4.12, the Manjaro Linux Xfce 0.9.0 Pre4 distribution, which is now powered by Linux kernel 3.19, improves the Calamares graphical installer with cleartempmountsjob support for the partition module, a debug window function, transifex translations merge, and wizard navigation issues.

As expected, most of the changes in the release announcement are about the new features and improvements brought by the Xfce 4.12 desktop environment release, so we strongly recommend that you read its official announcement instead. Many of the Manjaro tools have been updated in this release as well.

“After two weeks of development we are proud to present to you another preview of our next stable release, Manjaro 0.9.0. This time we ship XFCE 4.12 tweaked and patched to have the best XFCE experience possible,” says Philip Müller in the official release announcement for Manjaro Xfce 0.9.0 Pre4.

The Pamac package manager has also been updated

Manjaro Linux Xfce 0.9.0 Pre4 also brings an updated Pamac package manager utility, now at version 2.2. This release offers some interesting features, such as support for automatically refreshing the mirrors after a mirrorslist generation process, fixes for a possible null string, code improvements, and updated translations.

As usual, you can download and test Manjaro Linux Xfce 0.9.0 Pre4 right now via Softpedia, but keep in mind that it is an unstable operating system that should not be installed on production machines. The distribution comes a Live DVDs for 64 and 32-bit computer platforms.
