We’re happy to inform you that the Manjaro Linux Unity 0.8.12 operating system has been released today, March 31, bringing you the latest technologies from the stable Manjaro Linux 0.8.12 distribution, which is based on Arch Linux.

This is a community edition of Manjaro Linux, built around the Unity for Arch project, which has been created from the ground up to allow the use of Ubuntu’s controversial Unity user interface under Arch Linux and Arch Linux-based operating systems, such as Manjaro.

Being powered by Linux kernel 3.19.2, Manjaro Linux Unity 0.8.12 comes with all sorts of improvements, new features, updates applications, as well as small bugfixes that promise to offer a better Unity experience on Manjaro.

While there are no official release notes for this new stable release of Manjaro Linux Unity, we took the distribution for a test drive to see what’s new, as well as to create a nice screenshot tour for your viewing pleasure (see it at the end of the article).

Numerous open-source applications are included by default

As mentioned, the strong point of the Manjaro Linux Unity 0.8.12 operating system is the great selection of open-source software, among which we can mention Mozilla Firefox 36.0.4, Chromium 41, Audacious 3.6, Mozilla Thunderbird 31.5.0, uGet 1.10.4, and SMPlayer 14.9.0.

Some exotic software packages like Nero Linux, Viber, Google Music Manager, I-Nex, Mediathek, Popcorn Time, SelekTOR, TrueCrypt, SUSE Studio ImageWriter, UU-All-In-One tool, and mysms are also included in this release.

You can download Manjaro Linux Unity 0.8.12 right now from Softpedia. At the moment, the operating system is distributed only as a 64-bit Live DVD ISO image. Most probably, a 32-bit version will be released later today.
