A new update has been released for Manjaro Linux 0.8.12, and numerous improvements have been made, not to mention the fact that GNOME 3.16 is now available to download from the repositories.

Manjaro doesn't use a rolling release model, but the updates made to the operating system are usually very big, and they bring important changes, like new desktop environments, new Linux kernels, and more. The same can be said about the seventh update for Manjaro 0.8.12, which comes with the latest GNOME version.

The Manjaro devs are making sure that their operating system is always up to date, so this kind of upgrades are often made available to the community, despite the fact that they come with some pretty heavy improvements.

The seventh update for Manjaro 0.8.12 is a big one

"Gnome 3.16 is now available. It took us a while to get most of the issues fixed. Thx flies out to Horst3180 for adding gtk316 compatibility to Menda. Gnome brings new features and functions. Some you might notice right away, like hidden scrollbars when you don’t need them and visual signals when you hit the end of a file. Other features are more hidden ;) David is working on Maia, the new theme for our upcoming Manjaro Plasma5 Edt. Maia icons supporting now also XFCE," the devs write on the official blog.

In addition, the following Linux kernels are now available for Manjaro users: Linux 3.10.74, Linux 3.12.40, Linux kernel 3.13.11.19, Linux kernel 3.14.38, Linux kernel  3.16.7.9, Linux kernel 3.18.11, Linux kernel 3.19.4, and Linux kernel 4.0.0. The last in this long list of available kernels was just made available a week ago, so users might want to give it a try.

If you already have the system installed and you perform regular updates, then you don't really have to do anything extra. You can download Manjaro 0.8.12 right now from Softpedia and upgrade your system through the regular channels.
