This Manjaro branch has been out for more than six months

The Manjaro 0.8.10 Linux distribution based on Arch Linux, which is also 100% compatible with the repositories of the base system, has just received its twelfth update pack.

The Manjaro developers are already preparing to launch a new edition of the operating system, but they are having some problems with a few of the packages they intend to implement. So, in the meantime, they are working to improve the current branch of the OS, 0.8.10. There is nothing really major in the update pack, with the exception of a few kernel updates, but it doesn't mean that it's not a good idea to upgrade nonetheless.

Manjaro 0.8.10 has been around for more than six months and numerous update packs have been made available until now. Some of them have been bigger than others, but the latest is smaller and it should be easy to get.

The twelfth update pack for Manjaro 0.8.10 is here

Manjaro is based on Arch Linux, which follows a rolling release model, but the developers are also making punctual launches and updates. This is very different from what the base is doing in terms of updates, but it seems to work just fine.

"Originally we expected the last update pack to be the final one before the release of the 0.8.11 installation media, however there has been some delay due to major version releases of various core softwares. This update for Stable branch is relatively minor, the next update will be much bigger and should be coinciding with the 0.8.11 installation media release. Expect installation media release candidates over the next week, please test them if you can."

"Java packages get updated - they'd require intervention, but the updated manjaro-system script handles that for you. Bar-aint-recursive, bspwm and related packages get a much needed update, and protobuf updates mean that the compiz packages get a compatibility update," write the developers in the announcement.

Manjaro also comes with support for many Linux kernels, and most of them get updated periodically: 3.10.57, 3.12.30 (default in Manjaro 0.8.10), 3.13.11.8 (maintained by Canonical and not changed), 3.14.21, Linux kernel 3.15.10 (EOL), Linux kernel 3.16.5, and Linux kernel 3.17.0 (not updated although a new version is already out.).

If you already have the system installed and you perform regular updates, then you don't really have to do anything extra. You can download Manjaro 0.8.10 right now from Softpedia and upgrade the distro with the regular updater tool.
