If you already have Manjaro installed you don't have to do anything extra

Manjaro 0.8.10, a Linux distribution based on well-tested snapshots of the Arch Linux repositories and 100% compatible with Arch, has received a new update pack, the fourth one so far.

Manjaro 0.8.10 was made available on June 9, so it's a relatively new version, but the developers have been working hard to release a lot of updates for it. The update packs arrived in quick succession and all of them have been quite substantial.

In fact, Manjaro has to be one of the most updated Linux distributions out there. Other developers don't even recommend upgrading the Linux kernel for their distro, but Manjaro provides most of the Linux kernel branches as an option. The same applies for numerous other important packages and applications.

Most of these updates are only made available so that users can get the latest drivers, Linux kernels, and other important apps.

“This is our fourth update-pack for Manjaro 0.8.10! First of all: We dropped linux34 for good. Please remove this kernel with mhwd-kernel: sudo mhwd-kernel -r linux34. Speaking of kernels: We updated 310, 311, 314 and 315 to the latest point releases.”

“KDE5 is around the corner. KF 5.0 was released earlier this month. We are still waiting for Plasma 5 hitting our repositories,” say the devs on their blog.

According to the changelog, a number of obligatory bug fixes have been implemented, Argentinian, Basque, and Japanese translations have been added, the installed size info has been added in the tooltips, users can now search by file option (with pacman -Qo), the installed packages are now counted based on the View filters, and a string validator is now used in search widgets to prevent anomalous character entering.

Here are all the kernels that users have access to from Manjaro: 3.8.13.25 (LTS maintained by Canonical), 3.10.49, (default in Manjaro), 3.11.10.13 (LTS maintained by Canonical), 3.12.24 (default in Manjaro 0.8.10), 3.13.11.4, 3.14.13, and Linux kernel 3.15.6.

If you already have the operating system installed and you perform regular updates, you won’t have to do anything special in order to get this pack. You also need to be aware that upgrading the Linux kernel can cause some problems.

Manjaro 0.8.10 has just started its life, so it's very likely that many other updates are on their way. More details about this release can be found in the official announcement.

You can download Manjaro 0.8.10 right now from Softpedia, but you can also upgrade your system with the regular updater tool.
