The first updates to the new Windows Phone Mango operating system have already been performed in Taiwan, the latest reports on the matter suggest.

Apparently, some lucky users were already able to update their Windows Phones to the new operating system flavor, though only those living in Taiwan had this opportunity.

Further more, the updates have been installed only on handsets from HTC, yet things are highly encouraging for enthusiasts, that's for sure.

HTC confirmed only several hours ago that the update to Mango was near, and it seems that they already started upgrading devices.

Just as previously reported, the update went live only in HTC's homeland, and is available only for those who head over to an HTC store, though it seems that it will all take no longer than 20 minutes.

Of course, those who would like to update their Windows Phone devices to Mango should backup all data on the device before proceeding to the closest HTC location, photos and videos included, but that should not be too much trouble, that's for sure.

Soon, users in more countries are expected to begin seeing the Mango update as available for them, and those in Australia are among the first to do so, it seems.

Yesterday, Australian carrier Vodafone announced that it is ready for Mango's deployment, and another operator in the country made a similar move today, namely Telstra.

On its website, the company notes that the testing of Windows Phone 7.5 ‘Mango’ update was completed, and that they are expecting the upgrade process to begin.

At the time of this article, no official info on the release of Mango has been made available though Microsoft should make an announcement on it soon.

Most of the latest rumors on the matter suggested that September 15th would be the lucky day for enthusiasts, and many are keeping their fingers crossed for them to pan out, that's for sure. (via)
