Although some important handset manufacturers have already decided to drop Windows Phone platform due to low sales, it appears that Samsung continue to back Microsoft’s mobile operating system.

LG announced last week it had no plans for another Windows Phone device, and other companies may follow in its footsteps.

Nevertheless, Nokia Lumia 900 is the living proof that Windows Phone platform may be successful if it’s advertised well enough among consumers, or at least that’s what AT&T claims.

This is probably one of the reasons that Samsung continues to launch Windows Phone devices, such as the Omnia M, which has just been announced. The South Korean company has yet to announce the smartphone’s availability and pricing options.

The elegant Omnia M features an elegant and minimalist design with an ergonomic contoured casing that ensures it sits comfortably in hand.

The phone sports a large 4.0-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports the usual 480 x 800 pixels resolution and 16 million colors.

On the back, the Omnia M sports a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and video recorder, while in the front there’s a secondary VGA camera for video calls.

Hardware-wise, the smartphone is equipped with a 1 GHz single core processor and packs 384 MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory.

In addition, Windows Live SkyDrive offers 7GB of free online storage for anytime access, storage and sharing of photos, videos, Office documents, and OneNotenotes.

It is also worth mentioning that the smartphone comes with Samsung’s ChatON and AllShare services, as well as Music Hub and Photo Studio apps.

Mobile consumers increasingly carry and share a large part of their lives through their phones. They are looking for phones that combine individual style with the ability to consume and share all kinds of content across their ever-growing social networks. The Omnia M meest all these demands, with the enhanced performance and social options afforded by Windows Phone and Samsung services,” said JK Shin, president of IT & Mobile Communications Division, Samsung.
