I really don't like mandriva's policy of not releasing 64 bit editions of their free releases... you have to pay to get 64 bit support out of the box!
Keep it up and you will definitely closing shop guys...

Have you actually looked for them ?
64-bit versions of the 'Mandriva 2010 Spring Free' version are available at the Mandriva web site. http://www2.mandriva.com/downloads/free/

So you want them to give everything away and go broke that way instead ?

Have you tried actually looking for the 'Free' 64-bit download version ?
It is available to download at http://www2.mandriva.com/downloads/free/

Only the powerpack edition requires payment and everything that it contains is can be downloaded via the rpm repositories if you don't want to pay for it.

I for one am happy to support the company by purchasing a subscription

Diego, you don't must pay to have a 64 bits Mandriva. You can download the dual arch free edition, install the 64 bit version, configure the repositories and then complete the desktop setup.

Please, do not spread FUD. Granted, is not as easy as install a One edition, but it is possible to install a FREE (as in beer) Mandriva 64 bits.

Regards

I like it a lot. This is the first Linux distribution that worked without any fuss on my picky laptop. And KDE desktop is simply amazing. Great work Mandriva!

Re: Comment #1
64-bit support out of the box is in the FREE edition DVD, which also happens to be... free. Yes, not a live CD, but who said anything about having to fork out money for it? Nobody did. I'm not sure where you got your information, but 1 minute on mandriva.com would have answered your ridiculous comment.
