Mandriva Enterprise Server 5.2 is now available for download. It's an evolutionary update, building on the legacy of Mandriva Server 5.0 and 5.1, adding more packages and a larger number of drivers.

There is also an updated Linux kernel as well as new or updated packages including newer versions of BusyBox and uLibc.

"Mandriva Enterprise Server 5.2 – the simple, high-performance and accessible Linux server – is now available," Mandriva announced.

"MES 5.2 features a broader set of drivers to support more devices during the installation process and an updated Linux kernel (version 2.6.33)," it said.

"It highlights advanced virtualization on top of KVM or Xen, a user-friendly software setup and configuration wizard, an easy-to-use LDAP directory management – Mandriva Directory Server, powerful backup solutions and many other services in the fields of messaging, file and printer sharing, web hosting, network management and more," Mandriva explained.

New packages in Mandriva Enterprise Server 5.2:

Mandriva Enterprise Server 5.2 comes with Linux kernel 2.6.33.7 and supports a larger range of hardware. There are several new networking devices supported as well as several storage devices drivers, including IDE and SCSI drives along with RAID controller drivers.

Mandriva Enterprise Server 5.2 also adds support for the KA installation method which enables system administrators to copy entire SCSI or IDE drives and duplicate them on several systems.

Pricing for Mandriva Enterprise Server 5.2 starts at €299 per year per machine. A three-year license is also available for €799. Mandriva Enterprise Server is supported for five years. There is a trial version available, as well.
