Manchester United is the most important football club these days after it managed to win Champions League, a competition which involves teams from all around
Europe. As you probably know, United won the cup against Chelsea after a dramatic penalty shootout. Because the Champions League final was one of the most expected matches of the year, the Manchester United - Chelsea duel had also an impact on the virtual world. According to security company Sophos, spammers are now to promote a website selling medicines using the popularity of the CL winner.
In the last few days, lots of users received email messages in which they were asked to visit a website whose name is closely related to Manchester United. Although we've found the address of the website, we're not going to disclose it for obvious reasons. However, it's interesting to note that the mentioned webpage has absolutely no connection to the main football club and, moreover, its content is not related to football. Instead of sports, the website promotes medicines addressed to men.
"Emails containing a link to a sub-page on the site came in with all the usual subject lines - surely the spammers missed a trick there by not including some cleverly worded UEFA Champions league or United references?" Zoe Markham, SophosLabs UK, explained.
According to the Sophos official, the subjects used by the emails are: "Change your small trout into a great white shark", "She will remove her loin-cloth" and "Get a greater kangaroo pounder."
And just like usual, today's advice recommends you to avoid clicking on the link included in the email and even ignore the message entirely in case it reaches your inbox. Moreover, just to be sure, update you anti-virus to the latest virus definitions and keep the other security products enabled.
