The latest version of Resco's file manager, Explorer 2008, offers more features than the basic built-in file manager that you can find in a Windows Mobile device. Fully optimized for touch control, which enables users to navigate through files by simply using one finger, Resco Explorer 2008 is one of the most popular file managers on the market. It also features four modes that can be selected the first time the application is used: Touch optimized mode, Standard mode, Compact mode and Custom mode. Experiment with each of them to find out which one suits you best.

One of the most interesting features I found is the predictive quick search function, which enables users to actively search for any files by typing in the starting letters of the file. Another nice feature offered by the application is the Resco Today Plugin, which displays on the Today screen important functions of the phone such as: battery status, free storage or memory. You can also use the plugin to quickly launch favorite applications and documents. The core of the application, the file manager, seems to be very stable, efficient and user friendly. Resco even added a Recycle Bin to the app, which stores deleted files and takes about 10% of storage, but can be customized for a smaller or bigger space.

In case you need to secure your data on your Pocket PC, Explorer 2008 uses the Enhanced Cryptographic Provider to encrypt the files with strong algorithms. Furthermore, you won't need any archive extractors, as the application features Zipp Compression and RAR extractor. The built-in Viewer is fully compatible with various file types such as: txt, BIN, HEX, JPG, GIF, BMP and PNG. Other features included in Resco Explorer 2008 are: Network Browser, Registry Editor and FTP Explorer.
Resco Explorer 2008 comes with a 7-day trial, which is fully functional until the period is over, when the program will stop working and you will have to buy it. Explorer 2008 can be bought for 29.95 USD, which also includes a 1-year free upgrade.
