Doctors perform surgery, manage to fix the problem

Runny noses are usually not something to worry about, hence most people's settling for using a handkerchief to solve the problem.

However, in the case of one man whose nose kept leaking brain fluid for over a year and a half, things turned out to be a tad more complicated.

By the looks of it, Joe Nagy first assumed that Arizona's climate caused him to develop some very serious allergies, and that his runny nose was merely the result of his body's responding to environmental conditions.

At first, his nose started running only once or twice per week, Daily Mail reports. As the months went by, Joe Nagy's nose started acting out ever more often.

Eventually, it kept running on a daily basis, regardless of whether the man was lying in bed or going about his business.

It took Joe Nagy about 18 months to realize that something was seriously off, and that he needed medical attention.

Following his going to see a doctor, he found out that what was leaking out of his nose was brain fluid.

That was why the allergies medication that he kept taking all throughout these 18 months never seemed to work.

Apparently, the membrane surrounding his brain had somehow developed a hole in it. This hole made it possible for the brain fluid to work its way from inside his skull all the way to his nose.

The same source informs us that, in order to fix Joe Nagy's runny nose, doctors had to perform surgery. Thus, they reached the hole through the man's nose and used glue to seal it shut.

By the looks of it, Joe Nagy recovered just fine and no longer has to worry about his condition.

Doctors urge that all those experiencing similar symptoms ask for specialized help as soon as possible.

“This is one of the more common conditions to be missed for a long time... because so many people have runny noses,” stated neurosurgeon Peter Nakaji of the Barrow Neurological Institute.
