Though short, the video is intense and unsettling, especially for fans of the Superman franchise.
Those not familiar with the mythology will have some trouble understanding who this General Zod is, and who is this Kal El that he’s asking humans to release into custody, or else.
To make the viral even better, Warner Bros. has chosen not to show Zod’s face, so all we get to see is some sort of static.
In other words, non-fans would probably have a hard time making the connection between the video and “Man of Steel.”
Speaking of which, the film stars Henry Cavill, Michael Shannon, Russell Crowe, Amy Adams, Antje Traue, Kevin Costner, and Diane Lane, and will be out on June 14.
