Richard Lustig, a 7-time winner at the Powerball lottery is giving people tips on how to pick their lotto numbers.

Orlando born Lustig is teaching players not to rely on luck, according to the Huffington Post.

“Luck has nothing to do with it,” is his motto.

First of all, he advises fellow lotto aficionados not to buy an immense amount of tickets, because spending a lot of money on them will not pan out.

“You don't want to wake up Thursday morning and realize you're a loser and then pull your hair out trying to replace the money you spent,” he says.

Lusting, who has already made more than $1 million (€770,000) in lottery winnings, is quoted by ABC saying any winning should be reinvested in more tickets.

Most importantly, he says every player should pick their own numbers when playing, instead of letting a computer assign them random combinations.

Some amount of research is needed, to check if those numbers proved successful on other occasions. If that is the case, it is better to change the picks, as odds of the same numbers winning another jackpot are very slim.

Apart from only buying the amount of tickets one can afford, he supports the idea that a player should stick to a specific set.

“Always pick the same numbers,” he adds.

Lustig put out a book in which he shares more insight – “Learn How To Increase Your Chances of Winning the Lottery.” With the Powerball jackpot reaching $550 million (€423 million) yesterday, and the odds being about one in 175 million, players need all the help they can get.

“I don't guarantee or make promises to anybody that by following my method you're going to win the lottery. [...] If you play the game properly you have a better than normal chance of winning most of the time,” he says.
