Last week, Nicolas Cage’s son Weston was taken to the hospital for mental evaluation after getting into a street fight with a man believed to have been his personal trainer. As it turns out, the man had been hired by Nic Cage himself to track down Weston and bring him home.

As the rocker remains in hospital being treated for the injuries sustained and on involuntary hold for the evaluation, more details on what started the fight emerge online.

Initial reports had it that it was Weston who started it, when his trainer had told him he couldn’t eat something on the menu, presumably because it clashed with his diet.

TMZ now reports that the man who beat Weston violently in the street until police arrived on the scene had actually been hired to track him down – by Weston’s father, no less.

“Weston Cage had gone missing last week in the hours before he went off the hinges and had to be subdued by cops... and the guy who had to beat him down had been sent by Nic Cage to find him,” TMZ writes.

“The one-man search party was 39-year-old Kevin Villegas – who worked as an assistant for Nic Cage for the past 5 years. We’re told Kevin’s primary responsibility was looking after Weston,” the e-zine adds.

When Nicolas realized last week that his son hadn’t been at home for days, he immediately sent Villegas to find him and bring him home safely.

He found Weston in LA and tried to reason with him, to convince him to come home – but it all went south from here on.

“Kevin quickly located his target in LA, but we’re told, Weston was resistant and aggressive – even threatening to rip off Kevin’s ‘Christian [expletive]-ing head’,” the same media outlet reports.

These said, he launched at Villegas and tried to roundhouse kicked him, prompting Villegas to do his best to restrain him until police arrived. He had previously called 911, as per Nicolas Cage’s instructions.

“We’re told Kevin – who served with the US military – feared for his life because Weston is a highly-trained fighter... and attacked Cage with a flurry of punches,” the report adds.

The entire incident was caught on tape. Reports online claim Weston is seriously considering pressing charges against Villegas.
