For some reason, a man in West Seattle, US, decided that, of all the ways to kill a poor, defenseless spider, pointing a home-made flamethrower at it was the one guaranteed to yield the best results with as little effort as possible.

Unfortunately, he was soon proven wrong. More precisely, one can only assume it was about the time when the improvised flamethrower set fire to his entire home that the man figured out he should have just opted for a shoe instead.

According to Huffington Post, this incident occurred earlier this week, on Tuesday. Apparently, the man was just hanging around his house when he realized that he was not alone. On the contrary, he was accompanied by a spider.

Looking to kill the beast, the man grabbed hold of a can of spray paint and a lighter, and proceeded to try and annihilate the spider with fire. Unfortunately, the plan backfired, and he instead torched his house.

Firefighters were called in and arrived at the scene as soon as possible. However, by the time they got there, the fire was burning out of control and a large portion of the house had already been destroyed.

Following this incident, the man and a woman he shared the house with are pretty much homeless. Apparently, folks with the Red Cross are trying to find housing for them, be it only temporary.
