14 DAY TRIAL // A man who has managed to swim from Canada to Detroit has prompted a massive search party. He set out to cross to Canada after eight beers with his friends.
When they noticed that he had been gone for a while, his group called the police and he was met on his way back to Canada by helicopters. Canadian and US Coast Guard officials were out looking for him.
According to the Windsor Star, John Morillo started swimming in Windsor and emerged at Detroit's Renaissance Center.
He was never worried about not making it but he does regret what he did, in light of the thousand dollar fines ahead of him.
All he wants now is for the world to know that he did swim across the Detroit River, which is something he has been bragging about doing for years.
