It's unclear whether the man actually got to wear the uniforms before being arrested

A man has recently been arrested and accused of having stolen about 600 gym uniforms. The uniforms stolen by this man belonged to high school girls playing volleyball or cheerleading and came in a surprisingly wide variety of colors.

According to the New York Daily News, the man is named Koichi Hirose and now lives in the town of Mihama in Japan. He is 53 years old and works at the Wakayama National College of Technology.

After being arrested, the man admitted that he got into the business of stealing girl cheerleading and volleyball uniforms from their unsuspecting owners about a year ago, the same source informs.

“I started stealing them in the summer of last year,” 53-year-old Koichi Hirose reportedly told the cops who arrested him and who had the pleasure to ransack his closet looking for the stolen clothes.

Most likely looking to make sure that the police would not catch him all that easily, the uniforms thief did not strike in the same location several times in a row. Thus, the man took the clothing from as many as 50 different schools.

What's more, he did not steal just a certain type of clothing. Word has it that he took both sports bras and pants and did not discriminate between floral and geometric patterns, which can only mean he is very open-minded about fashion.

As creepy as the news that some guy in China was until not very long go running around stealing girls' gym clothes might sound, it appears that Koichi Hirose never meant to cause anybody any harm. On the contrary, he only stole the clothes because he wanted to wear them himself.

“I did it to wear them,” the Wakayama National College of Technology employee told the police after he was caught and taken into custody. Presently, it is still unclear whether the man got to wear all the 600 girl gym uniforms that got him in trouble with the law before being arrested.

Should Koichi Hirose be convicted and put behind bars, chances are he will find it quite tedious to wear the same outfit every single day for several weeks – maybe even years – in a row. More so given the fact that sports bras are not included in prison uniforms intended for men.

The police have not yet managed to reunite the gym uniforms with their previous owners. However, odds are that, even if they figure out which uniform belongs to which student, the clothes' former owners will not want them back.
