The drivers in the public transportation sector in Detroit are outraged over a clip of a man smoking crack on an area bus.

WXYZ identifies the vehicle as belonging to the Detroit Department of Transportation (DDOT). The incident happened during the day, and the man was told to put the pipe away by a second passenger.

Even after being yelled at by the passenger and told to get off by the driver, he refuses to comply. The driver calls the dispatcher to report the incident and the smoker eventually agrees to get off the bus if someone gives him a cigarette.

Union President Fred Westbrook at AFL – CIO says that the consumption of drugs on city buses has proven dangerous for drivers.

Eight bus drivers were injured as a result of assaults on the job in the last 10 months. He is asking for the buses to be monitored by security officers.
