Fox News aired this high speed chase that ended in disaster, putting out live footage of a man shooting himself in the head at the end of the chase.

The chase followed a carjacking near central Phoenix, and went on for half an hour on Interstate 10. The man, driving a copper-colored four-door sedan, made it off the highway, 100 miles west of Phoenix, in the vicinity of Salome.

Fox News anchor Shepard Smith was narrating the event, and one can see him terrified by the end of what was supposed to be just another car chase.

Reaching the proverbial end of the road, the man in the footage put a gun to his head and fired, much to the dismay of anchors and members of the audience.

"That should not have been on TV. I personally apologize to you," the anchor reportedly said after the fact, explaining that this kind of news story is usually subject to editing, and is aired with a 10-second delay.

That was not the case this time, and the video quickly made its way on YouTube.
