In the category of dumb crime, there is a front spot for people who try to steal gasoline and smoke at the same time. This particular individual set himself and several cars on fire after lighting a cigarette while stealing fuel in Milicent.

The dumb thief caused a fire in the car yard with damages of almost $100,000 (€73,000) as shown in the yard’s surveillance footage. A huge fireball engulfing the man and several cars can be seen in the video taken from surveillance cameras and used as evidence.

The fire alerted nearby residents as they immediately called the police to Mount Gambier Road around the middle of the night. Gladly, the fire caused by the involuntary arsonist didn't spread too much and was controlled to that specific area of the establishment.

When police arrived at the spot, they found the man with severe burns on his legs, and the video even shows how he runs covered in flames. According to the parking lot owner “he was trying to get the fuel out of the car by punching a hole in the tank – that's when the explosion happened,” notes Adelaide Now.

The biggest damage was made to the cars surrounding the core of the explosion, and to the walls of the establishment. The 26-year-old thief ended up with burns and scars on his legs and was arrested and charged with arson and illegal interference with motor vehicles.

But this particular man is not the only one causing laughter related to arson accusations; a guy from Arizona set his closet on fire while trying to get rid of his house's demons. He believed his closet holds Satan's creatures and, with the help of a bible and some candles, he set almost the whole apartment on fire.
