If there is one thing folks looking to rob a bank should try to keep in mind, this thing is that one does not simply carry out a heist while wearing a T-shirt with their name on it and get away with it.

This piece of advice might sound common sense to most people, but, as it turns out, there are folks in this world who cannot make due unless somebody goes through the trouble of spelling out the obvious for them to make head or tail of.

Long story short, media reports say that, not too long ago, a man identified as John David Martinez got arrested after putting on a T-shirt displaying his own name in rather bold letters and robbing a bank while wearing this outfit.

Information shared with the public says John David Martinez, whose mugshot is available above, is 68 years old. According to Daily Mail, the man currently lives in the city of Denver in Colorado, US, together with his wife.

By the looks of it, it was this past Tuesday, at around 9 a.m. local time, that the 68-year-old strolled into a local Wells Fargo branch and told one of the employees that he was there to rob the place. “This is a robbery, give the the money,” his exact words were.

The teller says that, after revealing his intentions, John David Martinez handed her a bag, and asked her to fill it up with money. Once the bag, now stuffed with banknotes, was safely returned to him, the 68-year-old bank robber simply left the building.

As if wearing a T-shirt that had “John” written on it were not enough to help police officers identify the culprit behind this heist, the man did not use anything to cover his face during the heist. Besides, he resorted to his own car to drive to the bank and then make his getaway.

Hence, it only took police officers about five hours to figure out who he was, and to arrest him. At the time he was found and taken into custody, the 68-year-old was hiding in a hotel room together with his wife, who apparently had no idea what he had done.

Shortly after being arrested, the 68-year-old man told police officers that he only robbed the bank because he and his wife had been kicked out of their own house and were in dire need of money. The man insisted that his wife had nothing to do with the heist.

Now that he is in custody, John David Martinez is being investigated for felony robbery involving over $20,000 (about €14,853). Seeing how this is not the first time this man gets in trouble after breaking the law, chances are that judges will not go easy on him.
