Danny Hafley of Kentucky is the proud owner of this life-size statue of American president Obama, who appears to be eating a watermelon.

Some are dubbing his display racist, as it embodies a known stereotype about black people. A neighbor complained about the statue being moved closer to the street, after the reelection. Prior to that, it was located near the man's home.

Hafley pokes fun at the entire situation, dismissing claims that he is racist, but sounding sarcastic about it, if you ask me.

"That's my buddy. He don't talk. Don't make no smart comments. [...] If I had a dollar for everyone who stopped and took a picture of it I'd be a millionaire," he says, according to a report by Gawker.

Asked why he made out the president to be eating a slice of watermelon, he cracks another joke. "[I thought he] might get hungry standing out here," he adds.

I guess we have to take Mr. Hafley's word for it, even as another neighbor comments that, when the statue was first revealed, it held a sign with a strong political message.

"In another 4 years, this will destroy us," the inscription read.
