A 3D printed brain, but his brain nonetheless

Do you like braining people? The term may take a whole new meaning now that Computational Cognitive Neuroscientist Michael Mack has finally married the love of his life.

A man passionate about human learning and memory, he is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Texas at Austin.

He is also newly married, and since his wife shares the same passion as him (they're both studying human memory), he decided that his brain would be the only thing symbolic enough of him giving her all that he is, so to speak.

Basically, Mack created a 3D model of his own brain based on an MRI scan he'd previously done. Then he 3D printed his brain and presented it to his wife on their wedding day.

From the pictures taken during the big day, Meg took it quite well. In very good humor actually. It might have helped that the brain was produced entirely white. Not that her occupation allows her to be squeamish of such things, but it's still a nice precaution not to make the brain too disturbingly realistic.

If you want to 3D print a brain yourself, you can follow this guide to make it happen. Whether or not you include the little jar Mack delivered the brain in is up to you.
