Lately, United States President, Barack Obama just cant stay away from Apple. Whether it’s meeting up with the company’s CEO, or signing digital autographs on the iPad, Obama seems to have an affinity for everything that involves the Cupertino, Calif.-based electronics maker.

A man named Sylvester Cann IV was present at a rally in Seattle for Senator Patty Murray, where President Barack Obama made an appearance much to the delight of the attending crowd.

Sylvester figured (in his own words), “why not ask?” and proceeded to hand Obama his touch-screen tablet with Adobe’s Ideas app running.

To make Obama’s life easy, Sylvester had already written on the iPad’s screen “Mr. President, sign my iPad”. He left plenty of room for Obama to scribble what turned out to be a very legible presidential signature (screenshot available to the left).

"…the President used the touchscreen on my iPad to give me his autograph,” the ecstatic Sylvester Cann IV writes on a web site he’s recently set up just for this event.

“At first, the Secret Service was a little leery about the idea (as you can see in the video), but they must have warmed up to it, and the President thought it was a cool idea,” he explains.

“He looked slightly surprised to start, but proceeded to use his finger to autograph the iPad using the Adobe Ideas application,” goes Sylvester’s story.

“This HAS to be the first time an iPad has received a Presidential autograph, and maybe the first time US President has given a digital autograph,” he believes. “Pretty cool!”

“I put this site together because the response to the event has almost been overwhelming,” Sylvester adds. “I've received calls and emails from the almost every media source, people interested in technology, and people who just think the story is fun.”

Well, you can add Softpedia to that list, Sylvester.

Congrats for thinking fast and, of course, for thinking different!
