A Florida man has incurred large legal representation costs taking his homeowners association to court for finning him.

He was made to pay $100 (€74) a day, or $5,000 (€3,700), because two trees planted on his front yard were too short.

Patrick Fitzgerald has two Magnolia trees planted, and the River Grove Homeowners Association alleges that he is violating policy.

His trees are supposed to be at least be eight feet in height (2.43 meters), and he is also breaking a “treescaping” agreement.

He has too many trees on his land and he is not following community guidelines on landscaping. I can see why he would think that the $5,000 (€3,700) fine is “ludicrous.”

However, mediation has already cost him $2,000 (€1,450) so he has decided to drop the issue and remove the trees, ABC News reports.
