This past Saturday, a woman identified as Brenda Cruz and her family were minding their own business traveling along Interstate 77 in North Carolina, US, when they chanced to witness a scene worthy of a blockbuster film.

Long story short, Brenda Cruz and the passengers in her car noticed a man hanging on the back of a nearby vehicle that was also traveling along Interstate 77. The woman managed to film the man, and part of the footage is available below.

“All of a sudden the kids say, ‘There's someone on top of the car on the trunk,’ and I'm like ‘What?’ I said, ‘Let me get my phone,’ and started recording” Brenda explained in a statement, shortly after witnessing the incident.

As noticeable in this short video, the man was lying across the trunk, and was trying to get inside the car through the rear windshield. By the looks of it, the vehicle was driven by a woman, and a child was sitting in the back.

The moving vehicle is estimated to have been traveling at about 50 miles per hour (a little over 80 kilometers per hour) at the time Brenda Cruz and her family saw the unidentified man trying to climb inside it.

The Cruz family claims that the man was holding something sharp in his hands and eventually managed to break open the window and worm his way inside the car, Daily Mail informs. This is confirmed by the photo above, which shows the man getting one of his hands inside the vehicle.

Brenda Cruz and her kids believe that the man, the woman and the child inside the moving vehicle knew each other, and that what they caught on camera was no more and no less than some domestic dispute gone horribly wrong.

“Whenever he lifted his hand to smash the glass open it looked like it was something sharp. I'm really worried because I just hope she's OK you know, with her kid,” 17-year-old Samuel Cruz reportedly told the press in an interview.

Police officers appear to agree with Brenda Cruz and her family. However, they say that they do not yet have enough evidence to investigate this incident. This is despite the fact that they were contacted and told about this incident by several other concerned witnesses.

Interestingly enough, it appears that, even if the passengers in the car and the man hanging on its back are identified and tracked down, the one that stands to be held accountable for this bizarre scene is the woman who was driving the car.
