Politics may seem appealing for many people, thinking about the power or the notoriety, but for this particular Tennessean it is all about his pet raccoon, Rebekah. The man announced he was running for governor after the state refused to give him back his pet.

After several videos of the 56-year-old man dancing and showering with his unusual pet, Rebekah, that went viral on the Internet by the way, and a few attacks on local chickens, the man was stripped of his companion by the wildlife agency. The Tennessee Wildlife Resource agency took away the animal in August, after several locals reported the raccoon attacking their animals.

The fact that the man turned into an Internet sensation after posting videos of him showering with his pet raccoon is hilarious, but the fact that he is running for governor in order to recover his dear shower companion is absolutely “laughing-out-loud” worthy.

Mark Brown, the raccoon's owner first tried to take back his beloved pet by petitioning for a legal permit with over 60,000 signatures, but the licensed firearm dealer was disappointed when the Republican Governor refused his request.

“Governor Haslam ignored the cries from the entire United States. He can free prisoners, he can pardon people, but he refused the online petition and refused to accept the letter. All eyes were on Tennessee and it made us look bad. It made it look like we were under Caesar's law,” Brown says, according to Raw Story before adding that the people are living in the “United States of the Offended” and not of America.

It is worthy to mention that the man's reasons for running for office are as well intended as they can get, he misses his pet raccoon and is not looking for money or influence, but just for his dear partner.

So why can't a man own a raccoon? Is that a bigger crime than influencing policies for money or other perks? In addition, his home-videos made a lot of people laugh and it didn't seem like Rebekah wasn't enjoying it.
