A man has tuned up a shopping cart and driven it on the Northamptonshire race track. Matt McKeown intended to break the world record for how fast one can go in a shopping trolley.

His shopping cart had a jet engine attached to it, an idea he got after trying out a motorized bar stool and posting the footage online, to great acclaim.

"A customer came in with a motorised bar stool and I had a go - the video had far and away the most hits we've ever got. [...] So we thought about strapping a jet engine to a bar stool, but that's been done. A trolley, now that's new," describes McKeown, owner of the Plymouth Karting bar in Ernesettle.

This Is Plymouth reported that McKeown got his trolley to reach 44 mph (70.8 kph) on the Santa Pod drag race track. The current world record is 42 mph (68 kph).
