Sunset Overdrive, Scalebound and Crackdown will all get a helping hand with art direction

Microsoft Games Studios Manager Mike Ybarra revealed some pretty interesting information regarding some upcoming Xbox One games and his appreciation of Windows gaming.

Ybarra has been checking out a lot of games lately, including Insomniac Games' Sunset Overdrive and Platinum Games' Scalebound, and he shared his opinions regarding the two titles via Twitter.

He also commented on Ryse: Son of Rome's victory of the Siggraph award for impressive graphics, mentioning that Art Director Habib Zargarpour was the man responsible for having those visuals happen on the Xbox One.

He added that Zargarpour was at the time assisting the art directors of several Xbox One exclusive titles that were scheduled to drop in the near future, including Crackdown, Scalebound and Sunset Overdrive.

Zargarpour is a very well-known visual effects artist, who worked for over nine years at Industrial Light and Magic, one of Hollywood's most reputable special effects companies. He created the effects for Star Wars: Episode I's famous pod racing scene, and received two nominations for the Acadamy Awards, as well as winning two British Academy Awards.

Furthermore, Ybarra also revealed that Halo writer and Creative Director Jospeh Staten was also lending a helping hand in the development of said Xbox One exclusive titles.

But that's not all. Microsoft's efforts to promote gaming on PC have so far been weak, to put it mildly, in spite of the company's promise to push Windows gaming. The company denied plans to release the upcoming Halo: The Master Chief Collection on PC after all, after some rumors started circulating on the Internet.

Ybarra, however, believes that Windows gaming is great, and he even addressed Chris Roberts' recent comment that no publisher would have picked up his upcoming space-faring video game Star Citizen.

"If Roberts pitched it to me as Windows only, I would not have laughed him out of the room. Windows gaming is real," Ybarra tweeted.

Chris Roberts is the director of Star Citizen, the most successful crowdfunding project to date, and not too long ago he wrote that he could not have started working on the game were it not for Kickstarter and similar platforms, and the ongoing support of the gaming community.

He said that if he had pitched the game to typical publishers, listing all the features and the fact that if he wanted it to be a PC exclusive game, he would have been "laughed out of the room."

For the time being, one of the reasons the remastered Halo compilation won't be making it to PC anytime soon is the fact that Microsoft needs some solid exclusives to drive sales of its Xbox One platform.
