A customer falling asleep during a taxi ride has taken revenge on the driver for allegedly over-charging him by damaging the car with a digeridoo. In case you have no idea what that is, it is a wind instrument used in Australia.

It is long and cylindrical in shape, and manufactured out of wood. It would be hand-carved before our time, but replicas are sold to tourists.

“A didgeridoo is an Australian instrument first used by indigenous people some 1,500 years ago.

“They can measure anywhere from 3 to 10 feet long and are usually decorated or carved according to the traditions of the makers,” a description by UT San Diego reads.

Police have arrested a 31-year-old man in Chula Vista, California for attacking the taxi cab driver and hitting the car with the instrument.

He has been identified as Joaquin Gonzalez, an employee with the U.S. Navy at North Island Naval Station.

The man and a woman got in the taxi in Mission Valley, and they were taken to Montera Street off Mount Maclure Drive.

Lt. Phil Collum informed that they both fell asleep on the 20-minute ride, then disputed the amount they had to pay the driver.

An altercation followed, and the suspect went inside the house and emerged carrying the didgeridoo.

The taxi driver panicked and got in the vehicle. As he was driving away, Gonzalez started following him and hitting the cab, leaving dents.

He has only been charged for vandalism, the police source describes. The cab driver has escaped the incident without injury.

“Officers responded after reports that a man was seen chasing a cab with what was first thought to be a bat and arrested the man on felony vandalism charges,” UT San Diego writes.
