Glenn Cartwright, 56, got himself arrested on Saturday night when he tried to steal copper pipes and wiring from the site where Apple is building its “spaceship” Campus 2.

The Belmont man is said to have opened a gate to the fenced-off former Hewlett-Packard office and broke inside the campus site to make off with some scrap metal.

However, Apple’s guards quickly noticed the open gate and called the authorities, according to Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Kurtis Stenderup.

“Around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Apple’s property in the 19000 block of Pruneridge Avenue in Cupertino based on a report by security guards about a burglary in progress,” Stenderup is quoted as saying by CBS.

Cartwright was reportedly hiding in some bushes when a police dog found him. The man resisted arrest, so the police was forced to release the dog upon him. The animal bit Cartwright, at which point he gave up the fight and allowed the cops to cuff him. He was later released on $11,000 (€8,116.88) bail.
