14 DAY TRIAL // Justin Harrel's proposal didn't go quite as planned after officers busted him right in the middle of his speech. But kind-hearted policemen couldn't ruin the man's plan and helped with the ring in order to get his awaited answer, before taking him to face the law.
The 32-year-old, accused of several felonies regarding bounced checks, planned a romantic proposal for his girlfriend Elaina in Oklahoma's Elk City carousel, but was spotted by a police officer right in the middle of his popping the question. The cop immediately handcuffed the fraud but allowed him to finish what he started before taking him to the precinct.
Justin Harrel, who had several arrest warrants against him, begged the officer to give him just five more minutes to finish what he had started. The off-duty cop accepted but refused to uncuff him and instead reached for the engagement ring in his pocket and handed it to his future wife.
Sadly for the couple, they didn't get the chance to celebrate the big moment, as Harrel was taken away to county jail. Elaine didn't seem to be bothered by her fiancée arrest right in the middle of the big speech and accepted his proposal.
“We're best friends. He completes me. He's my rock and I'm his rock. Everybody thinks he's a bad guy and he's not,” Elaine Rios told Newson6. The bride-to-be believes her soul mate is just misunderstood, and that cannot come between their relationship, it is just a phase that they will get through together.
“It's Christmas time. People have lives, and we help them our best to live those live,” Eddie Holland, Elk City Police Chief told Newson6. These kinds of gestures are considered examples of “policing at its best with a heart,” the Police Chief added. Policemen are not that bad, they just do their jobs.
The marriage proposal wasn't totally ruined, it can actually be considered a unique one as not many couples have this kind of amusing stories to tell about their engagement.
