The Ice Bucket Challenge is all the craze these days. Although intended to raise funds for research into amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (a motor neuron disease) and for people diagnosed with this condition, this campaign seems to come with several other perks.

Not to beat about the bush, it looks like the Ice Bucket Challenge can also help cops snatch felons they would otherwise have trouble finding and taking into custody. Provided that these felons aren't exactly brainy, that it.

According to The Smoking Gun, it was late last week, on Friday, that a man was arrested after taking part in this campaign and then posting a video showing him pouring water and ice on his head online.

Information shared with the public says that the man, identified as 20-year-old Jesean Morris, of Ohama, US, was first arrested back in April 2010. At that time, he was found guilty of assault and use of a firearm while committing a crime.

Later on, he was released on discretionary parole. However, the man failed to abide by the rules and regulations laid out in his parole agreement. Simply put, he pretty much disappeared from sight, without bothering to notify cops about his whereabouts.

While in hiding, the man saw fit to do the Ice Bucket Challenge and filmed the entire experience. Shortly after he posted the video on Facebook, one of his social media friends contacted authorities and told them where he was hiding.

Having located the convicted felon, cops decided to pay him a home visit. Mind you, they were not looking to simply check up on him and see that he was OK, but to arrest him for absconding. The 20-year-old tried to make a run for it, but officers eventually caught him.

Thus, word has it that, before agreeing to accompany the cops to a local station, Jesean Morris tried to throw them off his tracks by giving them a false name and birth date. He also tried to put up a fight and even spit on one of the police officers. Needless to say, this got him nowhere.

The 20-year-old is now behind bars in Douglas County, Nebraska, where he will likely remain for a fairly long time. Interestingly enough, it looks like there are some people who aren't exactly thrilled about the circumstances in which Jesean Morris was arrested.

These folks say that, whoever the person who told on him to the cops was, they had no business alerting authorities about the 20-year-old's whereabouts. Not when he did absolutely nothing wrong, and merely wanted to help ALS sufferers by getting behind the Ice Bucket Challenge.
