Few people know that the name of Emsi Software behavior blocking utility, Mamutu, is coined from the term “malware” and the word “mutu”, which in Maori language means “stop”. However, this combination of terms describes perfectly the purpose of the application: stop malware. The Austrian company has recently released version 3.0 of its behavior blocking utility, writing $27 on the price tag.

Starting today, and all through the month of August, this security product from Emsi Software can be purchased, from Softpedia only, with a 65% discount, at the price of $9.45. Regardless of the licensing period you choose (one, two or three years) the discount still applies.

Mamutu can track different types of malicious behaviors, such as those related to backdoor programs, spyware, hijackers, worms, keyloggers, injection of code, program manipulation, silent installs, and changes of browse settings or modifications of system group policies. The objects reported as conducting suspicious activities can isolated from the system to quarantine until the user decides if they are benign or malicious.

Emsi Software’s behavior blocker is available both as a standalone product as well as part of the Emsisoft Anti-Malware suite which has been recently been updated to a new build. It makes for an additional layer of defense besides the double engine detection (Emsisoft Anti-Malware, and the Ikarus Anti-Virus engine), which engages a small amount of system resource in the process of detecting malicious behaviors.

In order to reduce the number of alerts Mamutu can be configured to take into consideration the actions of the community members. Based on community response rules can be created to automatically allow or block suspicious activity. Also, you can set it to monitor only behavior specific to certain types of malware.

The new version of Mamutu brings to the table support for both 32-bit and 64-bit platforms and a redesigned interface. Refined behavior analysis is also part of the new edition. You can get it from Softpedia for $9.45 (65% off the original price) until the end of August.
