Refreshed behavior blocker from Emsisoft

Less than a month after Emsi Software released Mamutu 3.0 for public testing as part of their bug shooting campaign, the Austrian company presents users with the refreshed final edition of the application. The changes from the latest stable edition are not in large numbers, but they are notable both in terms of looks as well as functionality.

The new and refreshed Mamutu is no longer restricted to 32-bit systems and can now work with no problems on 64-bit platforms as well. Important steps have been taken with regards to the core function of the application, behavior analysis. Refinement of the false alert filter and recognition of manipulation of the system security policies are good points for behavior analysis.

Although the interface did not suffer radical interventions, Mamutu 3.0 comes with a slightly changed look that no longer presents built-in menus, but shows them docked to the side, just like in the latest Emsisoft Anti-Malware. A lot of other revisions have been made for the application to reach the current stable version, and these include verifications of the background guard and quarantine modules.

With beta stage complete, Mamutu 3.0 has been issued today as a stable release of the Austrian company. Its purpose is to monitor in real-time all running programs and pop an alert in case dangerous behavior is detected. The application does not rely on signatures and can protect your system against zero-day threats by recognizing illicit activity initiated by malicious processes. Quarantined items can be restored or sent to developer’s labs for further investigation.

The upside of such a product is that it does not require too much of your system’s resources in order to do its job, because it only monitors process activity. Mamutu is also present in Emsisoft Anti-Malware as an additional layer of protection that takes care of real-time security of the system.
