14 DAY TRIAL // Over the weekend, the disturbing news emerged that Mama June and Sugar Bear, two beloved characters from the Here Comes Honey Boo Boo reality series, were splitting up because she had caught him prowling dating sites, allegedly looking for a new partner.
Today, that report is being blasted as being nothing more than a reality series ploy to boost ratings on the show. This has sadly become common practice in today’s reality TV, to a point that viewers can no longer differentiate truth from scripted events, nor do they care to, as long as it provides entertainment.
Insiders confirm scandal was made up by producers looking for a ratings boost
Radar is saying that Mama June and Sugar Bear splitting up is a bogus story, invented by the producers and orchestrated in such a way that it would get maximum exposure. Though the couple was never married, they have recently had a commitment ceremony.
The fact that he was caught on dating sites like PlentyOfFish has apparently caused a rift between Sugar Bear and Mama June.
One insider claims that it’s all made up, “Sugar Bear absolutely didn’t cheat on Mama June! Yes, he did sign up for some dating websites, but never acted on it. He would never stray from the family.”
Sugar Bear wanted to help the show, helps being the bad guy
The same source claims that Honey Bear agreed to make accounts on several dating sites at the behest of producers and only because he wanted to help the show return to hit status ratings. The show has lost significant numbers of viewers lately, and the production team is probably worried that the show is heading for a cancelation.
Ratings show that the season four premiere in June only managed to draw in 1.73 million viewers in front of the TV screen, which is nowhere near as good as the first seasons of the show used to pull in.
The worst part is that Sugar Bear is said to be devastated by this fake scandal since he doesn’t want people thinking that he is cheating on his family. “This whole thing has just been grueling for Sugar Bear…he doesn’t like people thinking he cheated on his baby mama. He is a simple guy who is being used and it’s just sad.”
The ploy seems to have worked, since interest over the show has peaked since the weekend, with the media reporting on the issue and speculating how the split is going to affect Honey Boo Boo.
