Mama June Says There’s No Pressure to Change Despite Weight Loss

Mama June, as June Shannon of TLC’s reality show “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” is better known as, has lost over 100 pounds (45.3 kg) in the past 2 years, but she insists she didn’t do anything special for this to happen.

After word broke that she’d lost this much weight without dieting and going to the gym, speculation began that she was under some sort of pressure to transform herself into a more TV-ready version of herself.

It’s not the case, Mama June tells The Huffington Post in a new interview.

“No, I have not felt no pressure to change. I was blond about six years ago and I wanted to go back blond, so I went back blond and I loved it,” the reality star says.

“I have lost 115 pounds [52.1 kg], but that's because I’m on the go. We love fried food, but I lost that weight because I’m more active doing things,” she continues.

Moreover, Mama June is determined not to let fame change her or her family in any significant way. They have no intention of becoming celebrities, being determined to simply make the most of the chance they were offered with the TLC show.

“In five years, I see us still playing mud ball games, being a family and being there for one another. Wherever this amazing adventure leads us, we are ready for anything as long as we are a family,” she says.

“That's where I’m the most happy, because my kids mean the world to me. You know I would be lost without them. That's all that matters to me,” Mama June adds.

This is not the first time that she insists fame won’t change them, as fans of the series must already know. In fact, this could be the key to their popularity: unlike other reality stars, this family is still very grounded and incredibly relatable despite the huge paychecks they reportedly command.
